Nawroz is coming

 Nawroz (New Year) is the end of next week and decorations and banners are going up all around the city. The festive lights have been turned on along Salim street, though many predict that the celebrations will be somewhat muted this year because of budget cuts.

Maybe that is why the Christmas decorations were hauled out. The message is a bit mixed but the spirit is there. Christmas Day has been made a holiday here, as if we don't have enough holidays with four New Years.

Health and Safety is not such a big feature of life here. No barriers to protect the public from the scaffolding going up and just walk under the cherry picker....
