Sivas Medrese

In the heart of Sivas are four remaining Medrese or schools all built during the Seljuk Turk dynasty that preceded the Ottomans. Constructed during the 13th century, the oldest is the Gok Medrese or Astronomy School dating to 1217. The other schools dedicated to Science and Medicine were built around 1270. Three schools are intact, with two converted to chai evlari (tea houses, what else!), while the third and oldest is still undergoing restoration.

The fourth school, now named Cifre Minarets has only the front part of the building remaining and it too is yet another chai bache or tea garden. You can never have too many places to drink tea.
